Calpain-mediated proteolysis of fast transported proteins in nerve terminals of rabbit retinal ganglion cells

Neurochem Int. 1989;14(3):373-8. doi: 10.1016/0197-0186(89)90064-8.

Abstract

In vitro administration of calpain to microsomal fractions from regions containing nerve terminals of retinal ganglion cells causes a selective degradation of certain rapidly axonally transported membrane proteins. The major part of the degradation products were in the size of 30-60 kDa as shown by gel filtration.
