Expression of a multidrug resistance gene in blast crisis of chronic myelogenous leukemia

Cancer Commun. 1989;1(2):141-4. doi: 10.3727/095535489820875354.

Abstract

Three of four patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia in blast crisis were found to express the multidrug resistance (MDR1) gene in their blast cells. Expression of the MDR1 gene may contribute to the poor response of these patients to chemotherapy.
