Microanalysis of serum fatty acids by gas chromatographic technique

Rev Med Chir Soc Med Nat Iasi. 1989 Jan-Mar;93(1):183-6.

Abstract

The suggested method introduces an optimized sample preparation procedure for gas chromatographic analysis of free and bound individual serum fatty acids. Its advantages-consist in the avoiding of the classical extraction and the use of a convenient one-step derivatization of fatty acids, by an induced acid-catalysed transesterification, in obtaining the methyl esters suitable for a sensitive gas chromatographic determination. The method is simple and rapid, two important aspects in the routine work.
