Strongyloidiasis is a disease caused by the intestinal nematodes Strongyloides stercoralis or Strongyloides fuelleborni. The more common agent, Stercoralis stercoralis, is a helminth transmitted by soil and can cause severe disease in immunocompromised individuals.
