Use of the inferiorly based rectus abdominis flap for inguinal and perineal coverage--low venous pressure zone concept

Br J Plast Surg. 1993 Mar;46(2):168-72. doi: 10.1016/0007-1226(93)90154-4.

Abstract

The authors report 8 cases of coverage of the inguinal and perineal areas with the inferiorly based rectus abdominis myocutaneous flap. This flap seems to be the technique of choice for coverage of such defects. The design of the flap can be explained by the low venous pressure zone concept.
