Abstract

The National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) in Japan has had more than fifteen years practical experience in specimen banking. Stored specimens are used for the assessment of long-term trends of pollutants. The use of new analytical techniques facilitates the finding of the pollutants of the past.
